My name is Robert Romito. I’m an enterprise software developer. I’ve been working with computers and software since September 1992. Computers and software are my profession and my hobby. My primay focus is developing web-based Enterprise Software. I enjoy everything from working with a Client to develop a vision all the way to supporting and maintaining it. The only piece I stay away from is the artwork. I enjoy designing simple, functional, and efficient interfaces. I have someone else make it look pretty.

I had minimal exposure to computers as a child, mostly through video games. I didn’t develop an interest in computers until my first year of University. I attended York University and intended of receiving a general business degree. After meeting with an advisor during orientation, I decided to major in Computer Science. It was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made and I haven’t looked back since.

I graduated from York University in 1997 with a B.Sc. in Computer Science and 18 months of experience with IBM. I went straight from York to a Team at IBM that eventually became part of IBM Global Services.

While at IBM, I worked as a software developer, system administrator and trainer. I provided technical sales support, lead a development Team and was an assitant project manager. My primary technical areas were Lotus Notes, Java / Websphere, and AIX. I view my time at IBM as my Masters degree. I left IBM in 2002.

Since 2002, I’ve been working mostly with .Net. I’ve worked for two small, local software shops and two Fortune 500 giants. My primary focus has been developing web-based Enterprise Software. I’ve also developed many internal tools using Winforms.

I was born in the suburbs of Toronto. After a short stint in Atlanta, I settled down with my Wife in Amherst, NY. We have two beautiful children.
